Owner Builders Insurance

Owner Builders Insurance is also known as Contract Works Insurance or Contractors All Risks.

This type of insurance is used when constructing or renovating a a domestic home or a commercial property.

There are two sections to the Owner Builders Insurance being Material Damage and Legal Liability.

Material Damage

During the course of construction/renovation the actual works have the potential to be damaged and a financial loss incurred.  For example you may have a house that has the external walls in place and a severe storm or fire demolishes the work, the materials and labour will have to be paid for to get the construction back to the same point.  The policy also extends to cover theft of materials from the jobsite.

Apart from the actual structure and materials the policy can be tailored to include cover for materials in transit, tools and equipment, cost escalation as well as removal of debris.  Once we understand the project we are able to ensure that the policy provides the correct extensions.

Legal Liability

A building site can be a dangerous area, and in the event of a serious injury at the site legal action may be taken against the owner of the property, the lead builder and even individual contractors.

Care needs to be taken when arranging this type of cover to ensure that all parties are protected that are involved in the worksite.
